Chile is one of the best developed Latin-countries. Today it leads in Latin-America in human development, competitiveness, income per capita, globalization, state of peace, economic freedom, and low perception of corruption. It has 17 million inhabitants.

The landscape of Chile is very various. There is a really long coastline with some remarkable beaches, there are desserts and of course the Andes, so there are many mountains and many volcanoes, because the Pacific Ring of Fire is close to Chile.

The culture of Chile was build by the Spanish conquistadores. It was dominated by Spain for many years and with the time going there came other European influences towards Chile. For Example the Bavarian culture was brought to Chile by some German immigrants. Nowadays Chile combines the European culture with the South American culture which is really interesting. Furthermore there is a wide range of Chilean music and dances.

Chilean cuisine is a reflection of the country’s topographical variety, featuring an assortment of seafood, beef, fruits, and vegetables. Traditional recipes include asado, cazuela, empanadas, humitas, pastel de choclo, pastel de papas, curanto and sopaipillas. As well as the use of beer was brought to Chile by the German immigrants as well as yoghurt and mayonnaise.
